Tradition・Bullfighting
Regular Bullfighting Tournament: New Year's Event
A New Year's tradition where giant bulls weighing nearly 1 ton clash in a 20-meter diameter ring. The bulls fight without a time limit, and the one that flees loses, a simple yet powerful rule. This is a rare folk culture selected by the Agency for Cultural Affairs as a National Intangible Folk Cultural Property, 'Bull-butting Customs of the Nanyo Region'.
