The unmanned station on the JR Yosan Line, "Shimonada Station". Once known as "the closest station to the sea in Japan", it is currently the most photogenic spot for sightseeing in Ehime, visited by many from home and abroad.
Sit on the platform bench, and with nothing obstructing your view, the calm Seto Inland Sea (Iyonada) stretches to the horizon. This station, which has been the setting for Seishun 18 Ticket posters and numerous dramas, possesses a special "tranquility" and "beauty" that moves the hearts of those who visit.
At dusk, the sea dyed in orange
Shimonada Station shines most beautifully at dusk. The "magic hour" when the sky is dyed in a gradient and the sun slowly sinks into the horizon. The time when the station building, platform, and benches are all enveloped in orange light is truly a magical sight.
